Equus Crest Sachet Geranium Dress

08:00

Hey lovelies,

I've got something a bit different to share with you today, a pretty little dress, for a pretty little girl!

Sara from Sew Sweetness was very kind and sent me some of her new Fantasia line to use, and in the package was a yard of Equus Crest Sachet, this beautiful pink unicorn print. It's been sitting on my shelves awaiting inspiration and then BOOM! One day I realised that Elvis has only one dress and could really do with a couple more now it's summer. (Summer...ha!)

I made the Geranium dress from Made by Rae in size 6 - 12m.
Love these unicorns!
I cut out the skirt piece for a gathered skirt...halfway through gathering I remembered that I HATE gathering, I'm just no good at it! So I sort of fashioned a few pleats based on the photos for the pleated skirt option. She'll be so cute in it no one will notice, right?
I used these pretty 'crystal' buttons on the back, don't worry, they're only plastic. As well as using my machine to make the buttonholes, I also used it to stitch the buttons on this time too, so easy!
Hopefully she'll be invited to a few parties now to be able to get the most wear from it before she's grown out of it, but if not she'll just look extra special at church on Sunday instead!

What's on your sewing table at the moment?

  1. This is so cute, Samantha, I have two granddaughters that are all about unicorns and would be so jealous!

  3. It's beautiful, Samantha! It looks a lot like a Laura Ashley dress that I still have from way-back-when (minus the unicorns, of course). Stylish, classic, feminine. She'll be the belle-of-the-ball in it! :)
