Hi everyone, I've got some great news!
As many of you have been asking...for the last 6 months...I think you'll be really pleased to hear that the Companion Carpet Bag is available for sale as a standalone pattern now!
We had great fun during the 6 months of the Bag of the Month Club and this pattern was our starter for January.
Now you too can make it!
Elasticated pockets made using my free tutorial |
Inside there's a zipped pocket and a slip pocket.
The pattern uses an internal tubular frame, either 8.5" or 12", available from Emmaline Bags in Canada, and Bobbin Girl in the UK. I'd recommend the ones with barrel hinges as pictured.
You don't need the top snap tab as the frame holds everything closed nicely, but it's a great accent feature!
If you'd like to make your own Companion carpet bag, pop over and buy the pattern today on Craftsy!
You can read more about the Companion carpet bag from when it was launched, and the testers bags.
The pattern is perfect for heavy upholstery fabrics, quilting cottons, pleather, leather...pretty much anything except for knits and shinies! My sewing machine is not very strong at all and handled all of the bags featured in this post, you definitely don't need an industrial machine, it's surprisingly bulk-free!
Don't forget to show me your bags when you've made them!
