The rose T shirt pattern by Melly sews

08:00

A few weeks back Melly sews asked for pattern testers for her new Rose T shirt pattern.

It's a beginners pattern and I've never sewn with jersey knit fabric before....Melissa assured me that it wasn't going to be as bad as I'd imagined sewing with jersey knit was!

What with having no fabric shops around here I purchased some charcoal jersey knit from Minerva's and having cut out the pattern was able to find a 11" x 12" scrap from my scraps basket for the feature cotton. Result! I love scrap busting.

I made sure to wash the jersey before sewing and I'm glad I did because some of the colour came out. Didn't want that bleeding onto my nice feature cotton.

Anyway, here's my version.

This is the first time I've sewn something with sleeves and it was fairly tricky trying to work out how to fit them in but I'm really pleased with the top. Well done me! {Oh, and thanks Melly Sews too!}.

It's a really casual top and great experience. If you want to give it a go yourself I'd definitely recommend a walking foot and ballpoint needle. Pop over to Melly Sews to get your copy!
