Finish Along Q1 '15

19:51

I've never linked up to a FAL (finish along) before, I guess I thought that then I'd have to actually do the things on my list!

Well this year I'm determined to get a couple of things done so I'm going to be brave. I figured that once I say it you'll hold me to it, right? Help me!!

1) Katwise sweater coat for Lizzie. (my sister and the Patterns to print minion)

I've been collecting wool jumpers and cardigans for about two years now. I bought the tutorial ages ago. September 2012 to be exact.

I've been holding out til I find a base jumper or cardigan the right size but I've decided that I can't wait forever and this year I just need to get on and do it!

The funniest jumper is this one below. It's shrunk so much it's stiff as a board! I doubt I'll be able to use this, I can't even bend it let alone cut it!

2) Make Elvis a new dressing gown from this old one of mine.

Dusband gets up at 7am, feeds Elvis and then starts work with her sitting in her bouncy chair next to his desk. I get up at 8am and we have breakfast together then get ready for the day. We don't generally get dressed until after breakfast and we had a Newborn sized dressing gown for Elvis which Dusband liked to put on her. I think mostly so they matched...which is cute, but odd. She's very tall though (considering she's laying down most of the time maybe I should say she's very long?) and her dressing gown is just ridiculously mini skirted now so I thought I could use some of the fabric from my old dressing gown to make her a new one!

So that's it. Two goals in 3 months, I can do that, right?

Of course I have many other things I'd like to do, but these two are the two I'm most keen on. I thought if I put down a long list of things I'd do other things that I preferred first and these still wouldn't get done!

I'm linking up to the finish along for the first time.

  4. I'm intrigued about the sweater coat! The nice thing about felted is that you can cut it and it won't fray, so you could make Christmas decorations or buttons just by cutting out the shape you want if you can't use that piece for your main plan

  5. I like the idea of the sweater coat! And I'm sure Cicely will love the new robe. Now I can't remember if I'm spelling her name correctly. Anyway, I need to set some goals, like getting the PJs made for my grandson before he grows out of them! I've got them cut out. BTW we had enough Christmas crackers leftover that our oldest son's family got in on the fun over new years. You can see them in their funny little hats on today's post. Thank you again so much!!! It was so thoughtful of you and such a delight for us. xo

  6. Those two projects sound achievable.... as long as life doesn't throw any unexpected curve-balls.

Sounds like the new robe will need to be extra long with a big hem...

    1. Katwise - that's right I remember watching her tutorials done at super-sonic speed and wishing it got cold enough here to make use of suck a coat. They looked sooooooo lovely. Can't wait to see what you come up with for that one.
