Costumes & props

08:00

We're making good progress on our nativity costumes & props, I've got lots of posts and costumes to share with you. Today I thought you'd like to see some photos of us in action! We've got people of all skills and abilities from those who are fully comfortable with a sewing machine, to those who're happier with Papier Mâché! We're grateful of any help, with cutting out, and pinning, right up to sewing!

Cutting out the villager's costumes from dust sheets

Some hand beading (left) & some basting (right)

It almost looks like a quilt meet with our bank of sewing machines!

We're fortunate to have such a large space to work in

This lady is called Marion & she's incredibly skilled! I'm so thankful she comes!

All of a sudden we had a rack of villager's costumes! (plus a bit of a Mary)

I'm fairly certain this was posed....

And apparently I like to talk a lot.

To the left is my nan's dressmaker's form ready to be cling filmed for the soldier's breast plates to be fashioned, soldiers helmets on the right, and gold in the front!

Yup, more talking (or is it analysing?)
If you're local to the Cwm Cynon, you're very welcome to join us, we're at the Parish hall in Monk St, Aberdare every Wednesday 10am - 3pm!

  1. It was great fun last week. I beat up a shield with a 2x4 and a hammer, learned how to use gum tape (on a breastplate), covered myself in paint, and helped design part of the soldier's uniform. Marvellous!

  2. Our church ladies would be so envious of all this space in which to work! Looks like fun.

  4. It looks like you're going great guns there! It's so awesome to see pics of everybody mucking in and using their skills to produce those costumes :) There's an incredibly skilled lady named Marion at the place I volunteer, maybe it's something to do with the name?! Hope you'll be posting lots more pictures as the costume-creating marathon goes on :D
